The Estelle Trust makes contributions to research and development projects that are designed to identify better methods of delivering programmes of aid and reconstruction in regions of war and conflict in Africa and elsewhere. Over the last three years the Trust has contributed to the costs of the Government and Rights Unit at the International Rescue Committee and its predecessor the Post Conflict Development Initiative.
In combination with the Ashgate Publishing (see Partners), the Trust has established a three year research fellowship in Post-Conflict Reconstruction in Africa at the Department of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford. The first research scholar, Jacob Akuni, is completing a doctoral thesis on the effectiveness of indigenous conflict management in Northern Uganda. The research fellowship is under the supervision of Professor Nana Poku, John Ferguson Professor of African Studies at the University of Bradford (see “Partners”).
